For a while now I have been updating you on the progress of Books 1 and 2 of the Triple VA series.
I now have to announce that while I am still currently working on the Triple VA series with no plans of putting the series aside (its too amazing) and I have paused working on Book 1 - which was Derik and Lily's story.
The characters are good and still deserve their own story and happy ending. But despite my best efforts it was not the time for their story to occur. Too many questions/boundaries/issues led to a story that was not fun to write, let alone read.
With so much back and forth with the writing I decided a Huge Shift in the series was in order. This was NOT an easy decision - took some serious thinking, alone thinking with Wine in a dark room, and some serious crying. But all is well now because it led me to the right path, the right decision, one that has made me feel both lighter and happier since then.
All of this babbling leads to one conclusion, one major decision - there is now a NEW book 1 for the Triple VA series. I have rearranged some things and now Books 1-3 will be the A triplets: Amy, Audrey and Abby.
Derik and his brothers Donovan and David will still have their time and place in the series, but at the moment they need to be moved to back in the lineup.
I started the New Book 1 with Amy as the primary triplet last month and am quickly making some wonderful progress. Its the story of Amy Whitacre, a vet tech at the veterinarian clinic in town, meets and falls for single father Dean Harris.
As a writer there are times when one has to realize that the story was not working for them and I reached that point. I still believe that the characters are good and worth having their own story, just not yet.
Triple VA is still alive and going - the stories will come - just in a new direction.
Thanks for understanding. :)
During my desire to complete Book 1 of my Triple VA series I have come across a new way of thinking about a novel, a new way to outline and plot.
Its called the Snowflake Writing Method.
You basically start with one sentence summarizing your novel and work your way out into large sentences, paragraphs and pages. This process allows you to build your novel one sentence at a time until you have a full synopsis / full view of the novel at a whole.
This process is new to me but a complete game changer.
There is a great book on Amazon helping you understand the method:
Happy Writing!!
I am still working on the Triple Virginia series, nothing has changed.
However I am back to working on Book 1, not Book 2 - for good reasons.
As a writer, we are always critical of our work. As I finished Book 1 and started Book 2 I realized a huge flaw in the novels, one that I was compelled to go back and fix, for both the story and my sanity's sake. Trust me - it was definitely needed.
Book 1 is going well and will be completed soon after which I will finish Book 2.
Writing isn't easy; many have said that, but the rewards of putting words on the page is MORE than worth anything else.
Stay tuned...
Meet Hershey, an adorable black lab that was my inspiration for a dog that is rescued after being hit by car by our heroine Maggie in Book 2 of the Triple Virginia Series.
Hershey belongs to a good friend of mine and is 1 of 3 labs in the same household. Its controlled doggie chaos at its best! :)
Welcome to the Triple world Hershey.
I am true dog lover, even referred to as a the "Crazy Dog Lady" by my family. That being said it is important to me to have dogs in my novels, showing their love, loyalty and personalty.
The above picture is of my German shepherd Toby. Toby passed almost three years ago and it was shortly after his passing that I started writing book 1 of my series. Toby was my inspiration and he is the dog of the main character Lily in book 1. And he is named Toby in the book too.
Just like the real Toby he is bouncy, loving, loyal and food crazy.
I look forward to everyone getting to know Toby when the book eventually comes out. The love of a dog, is something that needs to be experienced at least once in a life.
Currently I am working on a trilogy books set in a small town titled Triple Virginia. Though with luck the trilogy will turn into a larger series, all set in the same town.
Triple Virginia is in southern Virginia, miles from the North Carolina border. The town was founded by three siblings, triplets, in the 1850's. The town is based on everything three; triplet births, the number three, anything in sets of three. The town is set up in a triangle pattern.
The first trilogy takes place in present time, roughly 2019, and follows the stories of three triplet brothers, Derik, Donovan and Daniel, as they find love and happiness amongst the struggles and challenges of life.
Book 1, Derik's story, is already written and will submitted to an agent for publication.
Currently I am working on Book 2, Donovan's story.
More updates to come!
